Esslingen am Neckar, 18.03.2017

We wanted to eventually meet our Internet friend and thoroughly prepared for this: we booked a car, invited to join us our other friend and found a route. The weather at this day whispered to us "stay at home!", but we didn't oblige and move forward! And didn't regret it =)

So, our route:

We parked near Esslingen Hochschule. The building is huge and welcome despite Saturday)
(photo not ours - it was still raining, so link)

Really amazing spiral staircase (also not our photo, we were kind of dizzy after long drive and exhausting circling inside the town, so link)

A leg a la Hannibal installation took us aback....

If you pay attention to orange line you can see, that it is actually sundial (solar watch). I wonder who created this and what they wanted to express?... Scary... and funny)

The jumping girl was not so strange, but anyway.... It seems she wants so bad to reach the Institute...)

Then we have found an old bus, Nerr decided to become a driver)

Then we went to cafe to relax and chat. Our host tell us, that this cafe is not just cozy but also social important - they provided work places for disabled people. It is worth mention, that cakes were amazing.

Then we visited the historic center of the Esslingen, it is located on the top of the hill, so to go up was a challenge! During our walk we also discovered a lot of old narrow streets, so it was like walking through the huge museum..

The biggest square of the old town - Marktplatz

A new city hall

A memorial to the solder in an old war.

I can imagine very clear how huge and modern this watch was when it was built..

It is an old press and we thought it is a well..

The street looks cute, but driving here is a horror!

Almost every house is a small masterpiece.

We saw a real working water mill - an aqua park for ducks)

There is also an energy plant based on similar but much bigger water mill, sadly it did not work when we were there.

Buildings there are staying right above water..

I have no idea what it is a creature!

Then we reached a long-long-very long ladder..

And we started climbing and looking around..

The fortress was just on the top:

As well as a small garden nearby

The wall looks as a serious structure..

We are above a town

On our way back we go through the grape fields

And we are all together

On our way back to car we saw again the fortress and it was beautiful

We wish to go again in a really sunny day!)
