Opening new season we started in small town on the border of Bayern. Another goal was to remember how to drive a car. So, the route seems quite easy, but it was not, because firstly we forgot a tablet with different navi-apps and secondly there was a huge car accident on highway, it was completely closed, and we had to get country-side road to reach our destination.... So instead of expected 2.5 hours it was 3.5 hours drive.
Anyway, we got there! As was said, the town is small, but nice. It has a downtown with historical buildings and XVII-century residence in the middle, but we were mostly interested in older castle on the other side of the river Main from the downtown. So, we parked near the main rail station and went through the town.
The first interesting object - a building of a local bank. But what actually drew my attention was this nice horse nearby. It is a memorial to a kind of deliverer or postman. The message on the table is "many good news to the citizens of Würzburg!".
The cathedral of the town
Nice details remain the most important reason to travel!
A building on one side of the bridge.
The bridge over river Main. The resemblance to Karlov Bridge in Prag is stunning! Both are very beautiful, no need for fight!
And then we reached the castle, or more precise the fortress. Enormous, partially on reconstruction but beautiful nevertheless.
And already traditional views of the town from the fort.
The next part of the route was a way down through the park. The first stop is a Celtic Park. That is all on the photo. yes, it is the whole Celtic Park, sorry...
The Japan Park is a little bit larger and honestly prettier.
We don't know the reason, why the bull is there, but he was very photogenic.
The late winter or early spring has this romantic atmosphere of forgotten ruines...
And we are back in the downtown. This statue has for sure some biblical motif, but really?...
Another church, another biblical stuff... I would say, even more Old Testament feeling...
Then we had dinner at a local restaurant and the last part of our route - the residence and the park nearby. Unfortunately we were too late and we had only 10 minutes before the park was closed, so we saw only a tiny part.
I hope one day we will visit the town again and will focus our attention more on the parks within the town. That was all for that day!
